In 1999 Samuel Barrera saw the need and the opportunity to establish a Mexican grocery store to serve the fast growing Hispanic population in Indianapolis and opened the first Tienda Morelos #1 located on Lafayette Rd. The success of the first Tienda Morelos was immediate due to the Hispanic population increase in Indianapolis during early 2000. Samuel decided to open a second store - Tienda Morelos #2 located on Michigan Rd. and 79th Street. The second store operated successfully and soon they were running out of space and needed to relocate to a larger store facility. The rest is history and now with 8 stores and with almost 10 years of experience serving Indianapolis customers Tiendas Morelos is an absolute leader and the most recognized Hispanic Grocery store brand in Indianapolis.
